Charlotte Kewley is a London based Baby & Kidswear Stylist who recently switched up the hustle and bustle of city life for the beautifully bucolic and calmer paced Essex countryside. Together with her husband, two children, adorable new puppy and baby on the way, Charlotte is relishing the changing seasons and so enjoying all that their new surroundings have to offer. From greener pastures, newly discovered lunch spots and limitless space to roam freely in, this is how the Kewley’s do winter adventures!

What do you love most about the changing seasons, and this season in particular?

I think a new season always feels like a fresh start! And autumn/winter brings us closer to Christmas… and hopefully celebrations and joy! But of course I mainly LOVE seeing the new season collections from all of my favourite brands. It’s particularly lovely to be able to update wardrobes with cosy new winter buys.

A new season always feels like a fresh start! I LOVE seeing the new season collections from all of my favourite brands.

We love living in England for its changing seasons. Would you say that you and the kids prefer the winter to the summer? Winter gives us more of an excuse to bundle up, of course!

Hmm, I probably prefer to shop for winter! All of the chunky knits, beautiful textures and layers are just so charming. Autumn is such a pretty time of year. The kids just love playing in the leaves! But I do love summer too. I always feel ready for the next season…

Any current favourite outdoor spots to visit with the family?

Well we’ve literally just moved house! To Saffron Walden which is amongst the North Essex villages but on the borders of Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Cambridge so at the moment we’re exploring all of the beautiful countryside and heritage sites! But when we were in East London it was always Epping Forest and Victoria Park!

The last time we spoke to you, you were thinking about getting a dog and now you have one! How has that changed your daily adventures and what’s it like having a new member of the family on board?

Yes! Maximus Jnr (Max for short) is the biggest miniature cockapoo ever! He’s 20 months now and needs a good amount of exercise so we definitely spend more time outdoors as a family! He’s just like another child… though we are also expecting another of those too as I’m currently 6 months pregnant!

When dressing the kids up for their chilly daily outings, what would you say is the most important thing to consider?

Keeping them warm! I love them to look like kids, let them be little and all that – but with a stylish edge!

Some of your favourite styles and brands of this season?

I love all of the pieces the kids are wearing in the pics. Especially Isabella’s Stella McCartney coat – it’s just a thing of beauty! Chunky knits are always a winter favourite. The kids’ jumpers in the pics are favourites as is this Bobo Choses cardigan which is just perfect for everyday layering. I also love the new Bobo Choses FUN collection! I think we all need a little more fun in our lives right now – great timing! Accessory wise, I’m a bit obsessed with Novesta & The Animals Observatory x Reebok collections this season. Such brilliant colour palettes.

What are your plans for Christmas this year, Covid permitting of course!

We’ve actually just decided that we’re going to host for the first time ever in our new house! Which is very exciting but I’m also slightly panicking about it. I’m not a natural cook! But my parents will be coming to us so I’m hoping my mum will still take the head chef role… I’m very much looking forward to decorating the house and table! I feel like I need to go all out and make it super special… and get the house (which needs completely redecorating in every single room) in as good a shape as poss for the big day.

Do you have any good local coffee shop and adventure playground recommendations for those of us remaining London dwellers?

Yes! We were in East London and Victoria Park is like a hotspot for all of the above! Then you also have the Olympic Park which is great for whizzing around on bikes + scooters + has playgrounds and independent coffee shops… I think we’ll still make regular visits to both!
