The Royals arrive in New Zealand

For any family with an eight-month-old the thought of a long-haul flight to New Zealand would be a daunting one but, once again, new Royal parents Prince William and Kate simply looked a little windswept as they stepped off the airplane steps.

It’s George’s first foreign Royal progress, with the trip echoing the 1983 tour of Australia and New Zealand by Prince Charles and Princess Diana with William. At the time he was just a month older than George is now.

They were greeted at Wellington airport by New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key – and the traditional “scary” Maori welcoming ceremony, the Haka. George looked un-phased and adorable in an off-white knit cardigan and little booties, being carried in his mum’s arms.

Royal officials have planned a three-week family trip Down Under which finishes in the Australian capital, Canberra, on April 25.
