We Review Matilda the Musical, Our West End Favourite For Children and Parents Alike.

If you have not managed to catch this record – breaking musical which has just gone stateside do not hesitate to book seats over the school holidays. Roald Dahl’s Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre in Covent Garden is just the thing to revive your spirits after the extended winter weather. Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly have managed to transform this much love children’s classic into a sensational spectacle on the West End stage.

Matilda Wormwood is a down – trodden six year old girl who delves into the world of reading and storytelling to escape the cruelty of her ignorant parent’s constant swipes at her intelligence. When she starts at school she discovers she is more than just very clever but she can use her power of telekinesis to play tricks on the wicked headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, much to her school friend’s delight. Schoolteacher, Miss Honey is the only one who sees Matilda’s potential and nurtures it, establishing a positive relationship in her life.

This adaptation for the stage brings the original Roald Dahl classic to life, making you feel part of the experience with swings flying into the audience and children flying through the air! A magical musical which has all the key elements to keep both you and the kids entertained: comedy, drama, thrills, friendship, action and adventure with a few surprises thrown in for good measure!
