She’s been married to her husband, Paul for 7 years and this year will mark 13 years since they’ve been together. They have a beautiful daughter, Poppy, who turns 3 in a couple of weeks and are expecting a little brother for her at the end of August.

 

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY KAT! HOW FAR ALONG ARE YOU?

Thanks so much! I’m 29 weeks.

WHAT’S THE MOST INVALUABLE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT’S BEEN GIVEN TO YOU SINCE YOU’VE GOTTEN PREGNANT?

Listen to your body. I generally find it difficult to sit still and take it easy, but being pregnant really forces you to just listen to what your body needs and relax a little.

WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST ABOUT THIS PREGNANCY?

Seeing how different each pregnancy can be. I’ve had such a different experience this time around compared to when I was pregnant with Poppy so it just shows there’s really no knowing what to expect.

 

 

 

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST LIFESTYLE CHANGES YOU’VE MADE SINCE GETTING PREGNANT?

I was quite ill in my first trimester from morning sickness, so I found that I didn’t have the energy to maintain any type of fitness routine. And unfortunately, although I’ve picked up some mild exercise since, I’m not able to train as much as I’d like. I’ve also made a conscious effort to avoid going out as much in the evenings, especially to smoky environments.

 

 

Listen to your body. Being pregnant really forces you to just listen to what your body needs and relax a little.

HAVE YOU DISCOVERED ANY BEAUTY SECRETS ALONG THE WAY?

 

They say that pregnant women have a glow. I do agree with that statement, but I must say, that the “glow” doesn’t tend to appear until well into the second trimester. I have noticed that my skin is behaving differently, more than likely because of all the hormones that come along with pregnancy, so I’ve had to use different products to tackle dryness.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP STYLE TIPS FOR MAMAS-TO-BE?

 

First and foremost dress comfortably. My personal go-to look is a fitted dress that shows off the bump with low to mid heel mules. I find that if I’m wearing loose clothing, I feel bigger all over, but of course, in the very beginning of pregnancy, the opposite applies. I don’t much believe in the need for maternity specific clothes unless you can see yourself wearing those same clothes after you’ve given birth. Instead, go for clothing that you would wear regardless and ensure longevity in any purchases.

 

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM BABY SHOWER GIFT?

I have my eye on a wool jacquard knit baby blanket with tigers all over it from Gucci. It’s one of those items I know I’ll use consistently and would make for a gorgeous keepsake for the baby.

DO YOU FEEL THIS PREGNANCY HAS CHANGED YOU?

If anything, I think this pregnancy has made me a little more driven and has forced me to really prioritise what’s important to me, both at home and at work.

AND FINALLY, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO MAMAS-TO-BE WHO ARE IN THE EARLY STAGES OF PREGNANCY?

My advice to mamas to be is the same as my advice to all mothers. Be kind to yourself. As soon as we fall pregnant, our maternal instincts kick in and from that moment on and I guess forever more, we often forget that we need to look after ourselves as much as we look after our children and families. A happy mum is a happy family, so be kind to yourselves.
