HoroscopeYOUR MONTHLY HOROSCOPE FOR SEPTEMBER

September sunsets can be spectacular as the leaves on the trees in cities and in the countryside begin to take on their autumn colours of red and gold and the setting sun’s rays catch them, make them shimmer and shine. The Autumnal Equinox, when day and night are of equal length occurs on the 23rd September, this year. In the weeks leading up to it, make the most of the last of the summer evenings spending time in the garden or the outdoor frontage of your favourite café or restaurant with your friends, drinking in the magical atmosphere that illuminates the evenings at this time of year.

September is the month that we mostly associate with the sign of Virgo which, in turn, is associated with health and well being so I’ve included some tips for each of the signs in the health section on this subject. But Virgo is also the sign of the apprentice – the sign that seeks to hone its skills to perfection to bring something extra and valuable in practical ways to family and friends and work colleagues. So, it’s likely that our thoughts will be turning to activities and new interests, as the autumn approaches. Schools, colleges and universities begin their new academic year, now, and there are plenty of courses out there – weekend or several weeks long – that are attractive to every sign of the Zodiac and which can be fitted into the lives of very busy mums!

Read on to find your own zodiac sign’s suggested courses…

Virgo
Aug 23 – Sep 22

Happy birthday, Virgo! This is the beginning of your personal new solar year so you should be feeling your energy rise and your optimism soar. For you, it is the month to get started on those personal projects which, knowing you, are bound to involve improving and perfecting restoration and re-decoration of all those things that need your love and care in your home environment. Courses that could spark your interest include: music, cookery, writing, photography, meditative exercise (e.g. Tai Chi), herbal lore, archaeology.

Life

Venus in your sign until mid-month will bring improvements in your finances but If you’ve been thinking about how to manage your money better and create a more efficient budgeting system, Mercury, the planet of ideas, moving into this area of your life, makes it possible to put all those thoughts to practical use.

Relationships

With the planet of love and happiness in your own sign until the 15th you’ll be delighted with the attention your partner is giving you and how they know just what to say to make you feel loved. The second half of September is especially good for just being together, discussing plans for the autumn and a special romantic evening out around the time of the New Moon on the 28th.

Health

Like Aries, you have a strong constitution and are a hard worker so you can sometimes take on more than you can comfortably manage and, once committed, you see things through to the very end, even if it means you have to push yourself beyond your limits. Added to this, you are a perfectionist and can get absorbed in too much detail. Your energy is increasing and your general wellbeing should be good. Try not to get lost in the detail helping out a close friend with a project in the first week and you’ll be firing on all cylinders throughout the whole of September.

Children

As a Virgo, you enjoy everything about getting your children ready for the new academic year and they appreciate a mum with such attention to detail and great organising abilities. All the gear they need will be provided, including just the right bags to contain it and by the time Saturn, the planet of responsibility, goes direct in this area of your life on the 18th, you’ll be more than pleased at how well it has worked out.

Libra
Sep 23 – Oct 22

Now that August is over and the family is settling back into its normal routine, you can take a little “me” time to think and plan for the Autumn ahead. Librans love beauty and harmony in all things, so seek out places that can offer you this but which are relaxing and escapist, too. Art galleries and lunch time concerts with a close friend or simply for you, will re-vitalise you in all the right ways. Courses that could spark your interest include: music, drawing, textiles, dance, politics, architecture.

Life

Charity or voluntary work looks likely during September. The first week may be particularly hectic but you will be amazed at how you are able to focus and get everything done. Working on your own achieves the smoothest result. There’ll be more time to relax at home after Saturn goes direct on the 18th.

Relationships

Venus in your sign from mid-month onwards, makes the last two weeks especially happy ones for you and your beloved. There may be a disagreement in the last week about home and family but your natural talent for seeing both sides of an issue and finding a solution that works for everyone will bring harmony and balance back into your relationship by the time of the new moon on the 28th.

Health

Nothing stresses you out more than when your sense of justice and fair play are outraged in any way – whether it’s you or someone you care for. The antidote to this is to find a pleasant environment where you can make space for rest in order to restore harmony and balance. Make sure music is part of the experience to get the maximum benefit. By the time of the full moon on the 14th, you’ll see just how effective this strategy is for maintaining balance and harmony in your life.

Children

Getting the children back into their school routine is very satisfying to a Libran mum. You are very happy getting them up and ready for the day and seeing them off to their lessons. You love them very much but you appreciate that part of the day when they are busy with their interests and you can get on with yours. Then, when you all meet up in the evenings, you and they can have fun catching up with each other.

Scorpio
Oct 23 – Nov 21

With the children back at school, there is time for you to catch up with your friends and make plans for autumn evening get-togethers.   You love talking about intriguing and mystical matters, especially over supper by candlelight with friends who share your interests.   September brings you many opportunities to do this so make the most of them as the days grow shorter! Courses that could spark your interest include: sculpting, meditative exercises, psychology, counselling, mythology, archaeology.

Life

Someone older, in your neighbourhood or community may help you out with a personal ambition or project during the first week. Friends, too, will give you some inspirational ideas that transform your outlook. By the time of the full moon on the 14th, you’ll feel very much valued and appreciated and pleased with how it has all turned out.

Relationships

You are one of the most passionate signs of the Zodiac and once you are committed to your partner in life, you are a loyal, steadfast and devoted mate. You can make that mate feel as if they were the most special and unique person on earth and you are totally loved and adored for it. So, remember all of this around the 22nd, when a romantic arrangement may not turn out quite as planned. Re-arrange it for the end of the month and it will be perfect the second time around.

Health

Scorpio, like Virgo and Aries, works really hard and can push itself beyond its limits so strong is the power to endure challenging conditions. The problem for you is that once you have cut back on sleep in order to meet your obligations you find it hard to get back into a regular routine. But your powers of recuperation are second to none – you just need to give yourself some time and space to do this. After Venus moves into your area of quietude and meditation, mid-month, you’ll find it’s easier to do this as part of your everyday health regime!

Children

In the first week of September, there will be plenty to do getting the children started on their new academic year. Double check your plans for them in that first week and you can avoid misunderstandings or misplaced possessions. All will settle down by the time of the full moon on the 14th when they will be bringing home new best friends and you will be out there catching up with yours.

Sagittarius
Nov 22 – Dec 21

For you, Sagittarius, September is a time of year when you are putting structures in place to organise the family, pursue your personal objectives and bring people together to work towards a shared goal. New projects will spring to mind and your natural optimism and far-sightedness will attract help and support from your social circle so that you can get those projects off to a flying start. Courses that could spark your interest include: writing/journalism, fashion/design, travel, philosophy/culture, languages, physical fitness.

Life

There might be a mix-up in communications during the first week but this may turn out to be a blessing in disguise when you get an insight into a friend’s view of you that will make you feel really good about yourself.

Relationships

You may have felt for some time, that you haven’t been able to fully express how you feel in your close personal relationship. Saturn goes direct in this area of your life on the 18th and you suddenly find that your partner is keen to hear what you need to say. This new boost to your communication together may lead to your realising an ambition that opens up your life in a big way and brings happiness to you both.

Health

Sagittarius loves adventure and taking up new interests, and you can sometimes have too many projects on the go at once, so that your energy gets scattered and you become hyper alert. Some of the ways to channel this stress are through exercise, preferably outdoor and challenging. Running, cross country riding, even mountaineering are all good ways to get rid of that tension – just don’t get carried away with your enthusiasm and you’ll enjoy the rush that this kind of activity can give you.

Children

Your children are likely to make many new friends when they return to school and these new attachments will expand your social circle, too, especially in the second half of the month when you’ll be getting together at each other’s homes to encourage their bonds. A fun outing or party looks likely towards the month’s end.

Capricorn
Dec 22 – Jan 19

At this time of year, you are likely to find yourself thinking more about travel and learning new things. The start of the new school year is partly a trigger for this as you truly enjoy exploring new subjects and meeting new people. It’s likely that you’ll take up a new interest and be delighted with the new friendships it brings. Courses that could spark your interest include: sculpting, drawing, dance, creative crafts, languages, politics, hairdressing, archaeology.

Life

Even though you’ve been able to make headway in the last few months, it may have seemed at times, as though you were constantly having to go back over something, either to check it or re-do it, for whatever reason. Your ruler Saturn, has been retrograde in your sign for some time, but it starts moving forward again on the 18th. When this happens, it will feel as if a door has opened and you can get on with realising those special plans for both your working interests and the benefits they will bring to your family

Relationships

This month, particularly the second half, you are likely to take over the controls and steer you and your beloved towards a closer and more passionate bond. Arrange some space around the 19th to spend time alone together in one of your favourite romantic places and feel those sparks of passion fly!

Health

You don’t have a problem with over-indulgence, Capricorn, as it’s just not your style. You are great at self-discipline and putting guidelines in place for yourself which you will then faithfully follow. Problems arise in the form of frustration and disappointment when your ambitions are thwarted and this can impact upon your digestive system. It’s also very annoying, to say the least, when your advice and knowledge is not valued. You may feel this is happening around the 22nd but by the month’s end someone whose authority you respect will help sort out any confusion and all will be well.

Children

Your natural sense of discipline is a great help to your children when they are settling back into the routine of lessons during the day and homework in the evenings. They love your help, insight, and the constructive support that you always give them. You may find that other parents know this, too, and may be pleasantly surprised if they ask you to oversee a new school activity in the third week.

Aquarius
Jan 20 – Feb 18

You have a unique way of looking at life, Aquarius, and are virtually unshockable. Your friends feel they can talk to you about anything because you don’t judge people and you always try to give fair and objective advice. You may find, during this month, that you are playing the role of impartial adviser more than at any other time of year so be prepared to don the role of counsellor and welcome the opportunity to help others in the ways that give you some of your greatest pleasures. Courses that could spark your interest include: philosophy/culture, technology, social psychology, mythology.

Life

You may find yourself travelling more than usual in September and it may involve education or study in general. From mid-month onwards you’ll find that friends are keen to get involved with your interests, and a get-together at your home to discuss the new things you’ve learned is likely in the last two weeks.

Relationships

Aquarians are one of the most original thinkers of the Zodiac and the way they value others can, at times, be misunderstood by some people. You may feel in the first week of this month that your loved one is behaving like one of those people and that your natural ability to be fair to both of you in shared interests now is not being recognised. Be philosophical and patient and let your deeds do the communicating for you. By the second week, your partner will come around to your views and you’ll understand each other all the better for it.

Health

With the cooler evenings of autumn just around the corner, it’s important for you, as one of the most gregarious signs of the zodiac, to catch up with your wide social circle again, bringing as many of your friends from all their different backgrounds together in activities that you all enjoy. Not only will this lift your spirits and fortify you as the summer draws to a close but it will also provide you with opportunities to get out in the fresh air. Have some fun, maybe on walking tours with them through beautiful scenery – great for any circulation problems to which this sign can sometimes be prone!

Children

When the children go back to school, this month, you may find yourself involved in parent groups for after school and weekend activities. You are good at getting them to join in with a team effort and they love you for the fairness and respect that you show children, whether they are your own or other people’s. If a planned event has to be postponed on the 22nd, don’t worry, hold it on the 29th and it will be a great success.

Pisces
February 19 – March 20

Getting back into your every day routine as summer gives way to a golden autumn, seems to be a strong feature at this time of year. The biggest holiday month of the year is behind you and now it’s time to re-instate those flexible structures which hold everything together but which can be changed at a moment’s notice. Just be careful not to exhaust yourself trying to give help and support everywhere it seems needed. Use that intuition to rationalise and prioritise. Courses that could spark your interest include: music, cookery, painting, dance, philosophy/culture.

Life

If you have a career interest that is particularly important to you, be tactful and patient in the third week when a working colleague may want to divert you towards plans that you think could be too ambitious. Another close colleague could come up with ways to make it both possible and manageable for you to pursue both, before the month’s end.

Relationships

You may be seeing your partner and close friends through rose coloured glasses as the month begins and they may not fulfil your expectations as well as you’d hoped. A revelation around the 8th puts a friendship back on track. Then you can take time arranging an escape to a shared hideaway for you and your partner during the second week. This quiet romantic time together, will bring new energy and passion into your relationship, transforming it and taking it up to a new level.

Health

Watch out for the demands of others this month, as you find it difficult to say no, even if you already have too much going on in your life. It is hard for you to observe boundaries when others seem to need your help but you can then become very over-tired, exhausted and find it hard to rest. You respond best to natural remedies such as chamomile tea and a caffeine free diet but fresh air and sunshine can help you keep your positive outlook also. If things get a little stressful in the first half of the month retreat to a hot tub and look at the stars or take yourself off to a spa offering alternative treatments – bring a close friend and it’ll be all the more enjoyable!

Children

Piscean mums can be very soft with their children and deeply attached to them so you may feel a little sad when the house seems empty at their return to school, once more. Nevertheless, you know the importance of learning and will happily supplement it with your own wonderful stories or enchanting outings in the evenings and at weekends. You have strong aspirations for them, and help from your partner with this in the second week makes it seem all the more likely that your children will achieve them.

Aries
March 21 – April 19

September can be a very hectic month for you, Aries. You are no stranger to hard work and high aspirations but the demands that can come at you from all directions can sometimes be a challenge, even for you! Try to avoid taking on too many commitments and give yourself breathing space to prioritise them, and this should stave off any feelings of frustration at not having enough time and space to see things through on your own terms. Courses that could spark your interest include: sculpting, drawing, photography, fashion/design, physical fitness, hairdressing.

Life

You’ll make great headway with work when someone in authority gives you a helping hand in the first week but things really get moving, after Saturn goes direct on the 18th. As an Aries, you like to keep the pace up and reach your objectives quickly and easily so you’ll be more than satisfied with your accomplishments by the month’s end.

Relationships

Although you are very independent and like to do things your own way, you need your partner’s support in everything you do. Sometimes, it’s hard to agree on things but with Mercury and Venus in this area of your life from mid-month, your beloved will have no problems in understanding clearly just what you want to do and why, and providing that support with a depth of affection is truly touching for you.

Health

You are one of the strongest longest living signs of the zodiac and because of this, you can push yourself very hard when you have an important goal to achieve. An extra rush of physical and mental energy in the first week of September may help a work interest move forward for you. Just guard against impatience with confusion that prevents things happening as fast as you’d like – you’ll avoid those stress related headaches and, by the time of the full moon on the 14th, achieve your goals just the same!

Children

As an Aries mum, you’ll be busy making sure that the children have all the equipment they need, and sourced from the very best places, by the time the school term begins. When the evening sports meetings start again, you’ll be there cheering them on, by the sidelines.

Taurus
April 20 – May 20

Taurus is the sign of the bull, and bulls love to meander through the meadow, grazing on sweet grass and enjoying the fine weather. Taurean people are much the same, although you should opt for lunches outdoors at your favourite pubs rather than grazing on grass! Even though the nights are gradually getting longer, the September days are still warm and bright so this month is perfect for some of the things you love to do most, in life. Courses that could spark your interest include: music, cookery, painting, counselling, horticulture, herbal lore.

Life

Taurus is a fixed sign and thus not keen on too much change but Uranus moving through Taurus, now, shakes up the routine so that new and better conditions can come in. Although you are perfectly content in your home environment, with Uranus in your sign, now, you’ll find yourself enjoying travel for pleasure in the first half of this month. Look out for new and interesting friends entering your life in the first half of September.

Relationships

Your outlook is changing, now, and you are interested in pursuing the new and the novel, sharing these experiences with your partner. An invitation to join an unusual group of people or a club or organisation around the 19th could strengthen those bonds that you have for each other by the time of the new moon on the 28th.

Health

Mercury, the planet of knowledge, moves into this area of your life, joined by Venus from mid-month. You’ll be seeking more ways of introducing balance and harmony into your daily health regime, taking up an online or weekend away course focused on improving your diet and exercise. Singing, country walks and outdoor games like golf or bowling, will optimise your fitness as well as being friendly and fun.

Children

A pleasant outing looks likely in the first few days of September before the children go back to school, or a short holiday break – whichever it is it will make them very happy and set them up for the start of the new term.

Gemini
May 21 – June 20

The focus is back on home and work, this month, for you, Gemini, with the emphasis mainly on your home. You have an inventive mind and a wicked sense of humour so evenings at home with the family when the children get in from school, will bring you a great deal of happiness. You’ll be extending this to other members of your family and also having friends around to share in the fun. Courses that could spark your interest include: writing, languages, communications technology, IT.

Life

Mercury, your ruler, goes direct on the 14th when any misunderstandings that may have arisen in the first week over home and work commitments should be cleared up, and the hold-ups they have created should completely disappear.

Relationships

There’s a strong emphasis on sharing, this month, so you are likely to be more involved in your partner’s interests than is usual for you. Take advantage of a helpful Mars Saturn contact in the first week of September for putting a surprise together. By the time Saturn goes direct on the 18th, you’ll both be reaping the rewards on a long term basis.

Health

Settling the family back into usual routine may make the beginning of this month a bit exhausting but once that routine is established, you will have time to get the rest and relaxation you need. Include some afternoon hours in the garden in the warm September sunshine and breathing exercises in your daily health routine for the best results. Taking a new approach to organising family life in the third week makes your home a happy and harmonious place for you all.

Children

The first half of the month is consumed with getting the children settled into their school routines, once more, but after the time of the full moon on the 14th when Mercury and Venus move into this area of your life, there’ll be plenty of time to spend some happy evening hours in nearby parks. Information seeking in museums and libraries, too, boosting their interests for days at school.

Cancer
June 21 – July 22

It is likely that, as September unfolds, you’ll be thinking about days out at the weekends and making the most of the last days of summer. Getting together with those you think of as family, even if they are more like close friends while the summer days are still with us will fill your calendar for now. Courses that could spark your interest include: cookery, writing, painting, photography fashion design, philosophy, languages, horticulture.

Life

The first week of September sees you reminiscing about the lovely family get-togethers and holidays that you had in August and with the children back at school the house can seem like a quiet place. Plan a family gathering at home, mid-month, around the time of the full moon- you’ll be delighted at the result.

Relationships

With so much emphasis on home and family during this month, there may not be very much time for you and your loved one to enjoy just being with each other. After Saturn goes direct in this area of your life on the 18th, you’ll find that precious space you both need, even if it is simply a romantic night in, watching your favourite movie, eating your favourite food, and cuddling cosily on the sofa together.

Health

Getting the family back into its everyday routine comes naturally to you but you do have a tendency to worry about it all falling into place beforehand. Once you have got the first week of September out of the way you’ll feel content at how well things are going. Take up dancing exercise with friends in the second half of this month and stick to that good and nutritious diet with a little bit of enjoyable exercise such as dancing with friends to let off any tension in a relaxed and fun environment.

Children

Your children have the super advantage of a mum who is a natural at teaching them about the world. They will enjoy sitting with you in the evenings, doing their homework with your loving support. You may also find yourself with a little group of their friends doing the same thing around the 19th and you’ll be delightedly surprised at the appreciation you receive.

Leo
July 23 – August 22

As a Leo, you love the summer – you might say that the summer is a Leo time of year. As September unfolds, you may feel a little wistful that the holidays are over for the time being and the sunshine is not as strong so it’s not surprising that September sees you budgeting for short trips and events that make this month much brighter for you. Courses that could spark your interest include: photography, dance, the theatre and performing arts, creative crafts.

Life

There’s a focus on catching up with faraway friends, this month, so you’ll be busy on the social network – especially when Mercury and Venus move into this area of your life, mid-month, bringing you together with much cherished old friends and new ones that you find it easy to like, straight away.

Relationships

It may be difficult to get your beloved to see your point of view during the first week of this month and there may be some confusion over what each of you thinks the other wants. Be patient because by the time of the full moon on the 14th you will have found a solution that is both inspirational and practical that not only brings shared benefits but helps you realise just how strong your partner’s love is for you.

Health

Health wise, you should be feeling pretty good during September and properly fortified by the enjoyable holidays experienced last month. Leo’s vulnerable areas tend to be in the back and so you need to make time to pamper yourself with massages or short breaks at your favourite spa with some close friends. Being appreciated by others and having a peaceful, loving and harmonious environment keep you feeling good. Add in a little “me time” each day, where you can enjoy the solitude that re-charges your batteries, and you have the perfect health routine in place to keep you well and happy.

Children

Matters should go smoothly with arrangements for your children in September – just stick to the family budget and you’ll manage an extra expense in the third week very well. A surprise treat for the children is likely, at the month’s end.
