She works part-time in the medical field and is a mother of two. Jelina AKA Jelly for short is 6 years old and Leeandro is 10 years old. She has been with her boyfriend John for over 10 years now and loves her little family dearly. Here Tamira shares her weekend morning routine, read our interview with her below.
IS YOUR WEEKEND MORNING ROUTINE DIFFERENT FROM YOUR WEEKDAY?
During the week it’s pretty hectic especially now that both the kids are in school. I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday but John is off on Mondays and Wednesdays so our schedule works in our favour. Fridays are a bit tricky because I have to get them ready for school and also myself ready for work. On the weekends Leeandro stays with his father which gives me a bit of a break and John works so It’s just us girls waiting for our boys to come home!
WHAT TIME DO YOU USUALLY WAKE UP IN THE WEEKENDS AND WHAT DO YOU DO FIRST THING IN THE MORNING?
I’m up between 8-9 am, Jelly will call for me once she wakes up and we will brush our teeth, go potty etc.
HAS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE CHANGED OVER RECENT YEARS?
It has due to both the kids being in school. A few years back it was just about getting Leeandro ready in the AM and then Jelly and I would have the rest of the day to hang out. I feel like my mornings are much more productive because I’m alone and can get stuff done around the house.
DO YOU HAVE A RITUAL YOU LIKE TO DO BEFORE JELLY WAKES UP?
Sleep! As an adult you appreciate it a lot more, I can’t even remember when was the last time I slept in.
WHAT TIME DO YOU USUALLY WAKE JELLY UP, AND WHAT DO YOU DO TOGETHER ONCE SHE’S UP?
Due to Jelly’s internal clock we are up around what would be considered school time, usually we hang out in the bed for a bit. She isn’t allowed to be on the iPad during the week but on the weekends I will let her use it in bed. She loves it!
HOW DO YOU TRY TO SPEND QUALITY TIME TOGETHER AS A FAMILY?
Usually John is up early to work a morning shift so we like to keep him company as he gets ready for work, we do it every weekend! Jelly and I love to go out for breakfast or a snack, I always make it a point to leave the house even if we don’t have errands to run. She loves having her smoothies, lemonades and pastries!
IS THERE ONE THING YOU TRY TO DO EVERY WEEKEND?
For a long time, I felt the weekends had to be my time to regroup and prep for the upcoming week, not giving myself actual time to relax and enjoy the day off. I think that’s the workaholic in me but I’ve realised my body needs to rest and there is always tomorrow to get things done. I try to do something relaxing for myself, whether that’s taking an extra 10 minutes in the shower or even wearing a face mask, making time for yourself is always important!
ANY TIPS ON MAKING WEEKEND ROUTINES SMOOTHER?
Lists are your best friend! I find that making a list starting with the most important task first helps with planning the rest of your day. If you knock out the tedious tasks that leaves more time to do other things. I try to map out my day in my head the night before so that I’m ready to roll in the AM!
