Tracey Edwards was inspired by the birth of her first child in 2010 to use her background in fashion to create a special line for children. Inspired by the stories that shaped her own childhood, Tracey has created a range of nostalgic styles with a contemporary twist. If you are looking for little clothes with soul go no further. The fabrics and finishes are carefully selected, as are the people who make them.

We interviewed Tracey to find out what made Molly Coddle a worthy contender to join the AlexandAlexa permanent collection.

Molly Coddle has some lovely items for babies. Are there any special features that we should look out for which have babies in mind?

The baby romper, t-shirt and body suit are 100% ring spun combed cotton and are very soft to the touch. Necklines are envelope style for dressing comfort and we use nickel-free popper leg fastening to avoid irritation.

Fabrics are Oeko-Tex® approved which provides assurance that potentially harmful substances are not used during the manufacturing process. Fabrics undergo a series of quality tests assessing shrinkage, colourfastness and pilling. Also these clothes look super cute especially when teamed up with coordinating hats and bibs.

What aspects of the Mollycoddle collection set it apart from high street brands?

Lots of effort is made to source quirky and unusual fabrics, which will still keep children comfortable. Many of the clothes are also limited edition pieces. Molly Coddle customers often comment that they like to buy something different for their children.

What is your favourite piece in the upcoming Be Our Buyer event and why?

For girls, it has to be the corduroy peacock dress, which is so soft to touch and rich in colour. Dressed with thick chunky tights and boots it will be an amazing autumn piece and will make a gorgeous tunic when the dress is outgrown.

For boys and babies, I love the pirate design which works so well for any age group, who doesn’t want be a pirate from time to time?
